Terms & the Grade Guarantee
Effective July 12, 2026
We sell a done-for-you fix with a promise attached: we take your site to an A, or you don’t pay. A promise like that only means something if it’s spelled out — so here it is, in plain English. No legalese, no fine-print traps. If a lawyer needs to translate it, we wrote it wrong.
The guarantee, in one sentence
On the Googleable Fix ($1,500 flat), your site reaches an A grade at delivery — or you don’t pay the balance and any deposit comes back to you. That’s it. The rest of this page just defines the words in that sentence so nobody can wiggle out of it — including us.
How the grade is measured
The grade is the one our own scanner gives your site — the same free tool at areyougoogleable.com that you (and anyone else) can run any time. Not our opinion, not a private checklist, not a screenshot we control. The public scanner, run on your live site.
Two specifics, so “A grade” can’t be argued about later:
- Measured at delivery. The grade that counts is the one the scanner returns when we hand the work back to you and call the job done. That’s the number on the receipt.
- On the scoring version live at delivery. We improve the scanner over time. The guarantee is graded on whatever scoring version is live on the site the day we deliver — the same version you can run yourself that day. We don’t get to grade you on an old, easier version, and you won’t be held to a future one that didn’t exist when we did the work.
What we can’t control (the honest carve-outs)
A few things sit outside the website itself. We can’t guarantee what we can’t reach — but we won’t leave you stranded on any of them either. Here’s exactly where the guarantee stops and what we do instead.
Your host’s firewall blocking crawlers
Some hosting companies and CDNs run aggressive bot protection that blocks crawlers at the server — before a single line of your website is even reached. When that happens, Google, the AI assistants, and our scanner can all get turned away, no matter how clean the site underneath is. This is real: our own rogerwakefield.com is firewall-limited right now — the host blocks datacenter crawlers, and that’s the host’s setting to change, not something we can edit from inside the site.
So a hosting-side block isn’t something we can fix for you or grade around. What we do: we document exactly what’s being blocked, and we hand you the precise fix for your specific host — the setting to change or the rule to add, in words you can forward straight to them. You get the answer; the host makes the change.
The flip side of this is one thing we need from you: your site has to be reachable by our scanner at delivery. That’s how the grade gets measured. If mid-project you move hosts, switch on a firewall or CDN challenge, or otherwise start blocking crawlers, the scanner can get turned away at the door — and a grade we can’t take isn’t a grade we can guarantee. That lands here in carve-out #1: same deal as any host-side block — we document what’s stopping the scan and hand your host the exact fix, and once crawlers are let back through we measure the grade for real.
Changes you make after we deliver
The guarantee is a snapshot at delivery. Once the site is back in your hands and someone edits it — you, your web person, a plugin update, a theme change — that new work is yours, and the grade can move with it. We stand behind the site we delivered, not edits made after we let go of it. (Want us to keep watching it so nothing slips? That’s what the Stay Googleable retainer is for.)
Third-party platforms we can’t edit
If part of your presence lives on a platform we don’t have the keys to — a locked-down site builder, a directory listing, a social profile, a review site — we can’t reach in and change what the platform won’t let anyone change. Where that caps a score, we’ll tell you plainly and show you what’s in your control.
If we miss the grade: we fix it free first
Here’s what happens if the delivery scan comes back below an A: we get 10 business days to fix it, at no additional charge. No change order, no “that’ll be extra.” We take another swing at it on our dime — because we’re confident we can land it, and the honest move is to prove it rather than argue about a refund.
If those 10 business days are up and the site is still below an A — and the reason isn’t one of the carve-outs above — you owe no balance, and any deposit you’ve already put down is refunded in full.
No restocking fee. No partial credit you can only spend with us. No “well, technically.” We either delivered the grade or we didn’t — and if we didn’t, the money is yours. We’d rather eat the job than argue about it.
What this covers
The grade guarantee is the Googleable Fix. The A-Page Build ($2,500) is a brand-new, built-to-score page and carries the same standard — it lands at an A on our scanner at delivery, same carve-outs, same refund. The Stay Googleable retainer ($199/mo) is ongoing monitoring and upkeep — a subscription you can cancel any time, not a one-time grade promise; it keeps the grade you earned from slipping.
